The Limes Surgery has been actively involved in research for the past 10 years and is a member of the East of England PCRN (Primary Care Research Network). We have in the past pioneered and researched new methods of smoking cessation. Dr Parkes's study on this subject featured as a lead article in the British Medical Journal in 2008.
We collaborate with both the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) portfolio of research projects and some academic departments. Currently we are involved in recruiting patients for a study on cough and respiratory infections in adults, a study from the University of Hertfordshire about the welfare of the over 65s and a long term study on cardiac problems.
Being involved in a research project is totally voluntary, confidential and may improve future care of patients. If you are asked to be involved please consider this carefully but please note that if you decide not to be involved you will still receive the normal level of care from the practice.
